For properties that entered June with a temporary shrink wrap enclosure already installed, the end of June is a critical inspection point. The enclosure has experienced spring weather and early summer UV exposure, and peak hurricane and severe weather season is ahead.
What a Mid-Season Inspection Covers
- Membrane surface condition, checking for UV degradation, punctures, and abrasion wear at edges and penetrations
- Heat-fused seam integrity, probing seam edges for separation or stress fractures
- Access panel condition, door zippers, tie-backs, and frame integrity
- Anchor point inspection, verifying that roof deck and parapet anchors remain secure
- Interior moisture levels, checking data logger readings if sensors are installed
Repair vs. Replacement Decision
Minor membrane damage can typically be repaired in place. Widespread UV degradation, extensive seam separation, or major physical damage typically indicates that full enclosure replacement is more economical than comprehensive repair.
Scheduling the Inspection
StormWrappers schedules mid-season inspections for all active long-term enclosure projects in June and December. Property managers with existing enclosures from other providers can contact StormWrappers for a third-party inspection and condition report.
